Most likely, your credit information is still in order. A payment default is recorded in your credit report if the collection of the invoices advances into court and the district court confirms your payment obligation with a ruling. At that point, you have received a minimum of three payment reminders and one subpoena notification.
However, do not prolong the issue! Instead, agree on paying off the debt. Every collection phase causes you to incur additional costs and can result in difficulties in making purchased on credit in the future. Learn more about the collection phases in the Did you receive mail section.
- Can I make a payment plan?

Yes, in most cases, you can make a payment plan. Please be sure to contact the collection agency that sent the payment reminder letter as soon as possible and propose a new payment due date or payment using several instalments.

- When can I make additional purchases?

If you have unpaid invoices owed to a mail order business or web shop, making new purchases on credit or without advance payment will not be possible, until you have paid your existing invoices. If your existing invoices have been in collections for a long time, it may be difficult to make new purchases on credit with the same company, even if you have ultimately paid off all the invoices.
If you have a payment default entry in your credit report, it is most likely very difficult for you to make mail order or online purchases. A payment default entry will remain in your credit report for 2-4 years.
